Arina Garg Rheumatology in San Jose, CA

Arina Garg, MD, FRCPC, specializes in rheumatology. Dr. Garg diagnoses and treats autoimmune, inflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. She works to restore comfort and function and is committed to building lasting relationships where every patient feels heard, understood and respected.
Dr. Garg understands that rheumatic conditions impact nearly every aspect of a patient's daily life. The ability to work, move, sleep and even connect with loved ones can all be disrupted. That's why her approach to care focuses on treating the whole person rather than the disease alone. She explains, "I have a deep interest in the mind-body connection and the role it plays in chronic illness. Physical symptoms and emotional well-being are not separate conversations in my practice."
With a focus on personalized care, Dr. Garg partners with her patients to find the best available options. She truly listens to understand which symptoms are most disruptive to a patient's life, what their concerns are about treatment, and what quality of life means to them. She is especially attuned to patients who have spent years searching for answers and brings both patience and thoroughness to even the most complex cases. She has a particular interest in diagnostically challenging cases and overlapping conditions, where careful listening and methodical clinical thinking make the greatest difference.
Regarding joining the El Camino Health team, Dr. Garg shares, "I wanted to practice somewhere that values clinical judgment and keeps the patient relationship at the heart of everything. El Camino Health genuinely cares about doing medicine the right way."
In addition to her rheumatology certification, Dr. Garg is board certified in internal medicine in both the U.S. and Canada. Being trained and certified in both countries means her patients benefit from a physician held to the highest clinical standards across two of the world's leading healthcare systems.
She is a member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In 2017, she was selected as an ACR Advocate for Arthritis. In this role, she met directly with members of Congress to advocate on behalf of rheumatology patients, reflecting her belief that caring for patients extends well beyond the exam room.
Dr. Garg is fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.
