Joseph Charles is a dual board-certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner who provides comprehensive primary care and behavioral health services across the lifespan.
As an international medical graduate who later pursued advanced nursing education in the U.S., Joseph brings a broad clinical perspective and a deep appreciation for the diverse experiences that shape health and well-being.
Joseph is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that treats the whole person. He strives to build trusting relationships and create an environment where patients feel heard, respected and empowered to participate in their healthcare decisions.
He shares, "I am passionate about healthcare because I enjoy connecting with people and helping improve both their physical and emotional well-being. I believe that many patients who appear difficult are often carrying the effects of difficult life experiences. Taking time to understand a person's story, culture and experiences helps us provide more compassionate, effective and meaningful care."
Joseph was drawn to El Camino Health because of its commitment to compassionate, culturally inclusive and evidence-based care. He explains, "I am inspired by the opportunity to serve people from diverse backgrounds and make a positive difference in their lives every day."
In addition to English, Joseph speaks French and Haitian Creole fluently.
Outside of work, Joseph enjoys spending time with family, reading, listening to music, exercising and exploring new places. He is committed to lifelong learning and enjoys mentoring others in the healthcare profession.
