Joyce Lu, MD, is a vascular surgeon who provides surgical and nonsurgical treatment of peripheral arterial disease, aortic disease, carotid disease, hemodialysis access, venous insufficiency and thoracic outlet syndrome.

Dr. Lu takes the time to understand her patients' unique perspectives and goals. She works to create trusting, collaborative partnerships that result in highly individualized care. Dr. Lu explains, "I enjoy teaching my patients about their illnesses and empowering them to make informed decisions to improve their health."

Originally from Cupertino, Dr. Lu is excited to be back in the Bay Area. She says, "El Camino Health's dedication to innovation and quality shows in its history, and I am looking forward to continuing the tradition for our community's future."

Dr. Lu speaks fluent English and Mandarin Chinese.

She was honored with the Gold Humanism Honor Society Award, which recognizes excellence in clinical care, leadership, compassion and dedication to service. She was also selected to receive the Albany Medical College Richard O. Shapiro Prize by her medical school class, which acknowledges a classmate who makes a meaningful contribution to their well-being.

Outside of work, Dr. Lu enjoys rock climbing, badminton, trail running/biking, savoring diverse cuisines and spending time with her friends and family.

I am really impressed with Dr. Lu. She took the time before my appointment to read my medical history and ask me questions about it. I have never had a doctor do this before. She even took time to look at my wife's recent knee surgery. Dr. Lu is a real doctor's doctor.

This turned out to be an important, but simple consultation. Dr Lu was supportive and provided a good picture of my reasonable options. I appreciate her information.

Dr Lui was VERY thorough, she answered ALL my questions and concerns and educated me on how my conditions begins. I left my appointment feeling I was heard for the first time. She was GREAT!!
