Khurram Abbass, MD

Khurram Abbass, MD, is a board-certified rheumatologist. He diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of rheumatologic conditions - from common concerns to highly complex autoimmune diseases.

Some conditions Dr. Abbass commonly treats include psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis and other inflammatory joint conditions. He also has significant experience managing complex systemic diseases, such as ANCA-associated vasculitis, interstitial lung disease related to autoimmune conditions, lupus nephritis and dermatomyositis.

While working with people who have complex conditions, Dr. Abbass collaborates with specialists across multiple disciplines to ensure patients receive clear, concise and comprehensive treatment.

Dr. Abbass takes an individualized, evidence-based approach to care. He explains, "I am guided by two principles. The first is to recognize and honor every individual's unique needs and preferences. The second is to care for every patient the way I would care for a member of my own family."

He is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi.

Outside of work, Dr. Abbass enjoys going for long walks and hikes, cooking with his family, and exploring the Bay Area - especially Santa Cruz, San Francisco and Monterey.
