Kieu Nguyen, MD

Dr. Kieu Nguyen is a board-certified emergency physician. She received her Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering at the University of California Berkeley. She then changed direction and entered the University of California at San Francisco, where she earned her medical degree. She completed her emergency medicine residency at Loma Linda University.

Dr. Nguyen has worked in the South Bay area for over 25 years, most of it as a nocturnist, working the night shift. She speaks fluent Vietnamese and can get by with simple Spanish. She enjoys working with the immigrant population and uses her language skills to make sure that her patients understand their medical treatment, as well as how to get medical care.

Dr. Nguyen's passion is international medicine. She has participated in several medical trips to El Salvador, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam and Mexico. She finds the work challenging and rewarding, and she enjoys the opportunity to both care for people who need it and learn about new cultures.

In her free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, camping, hiking and playing video games with her kids. Both she and her husbands are whitewater rafting guides and used to spend many weekends on the American River. On her days off, she looks forward to traveling with the family and discovering new places to eat locally.
