Nirmaljit Dhami is the medical director of the Inpatient Perinatal Psychiatry Unit at the Scrivner Center for Mental Health & Addiction Services at El Camino Health. Prior to that she was the Medical Director of the Maternal Outreach Mood Services (MOMS) Program at El Camino Health (2008-2020), and is nationally renowned for her dedication and work in spearheading the program. She was also recently featured on NPR and KQED for her work. She is the current vice chair of the Psychiatry Department at El Camino Health, President of Bay Area Maternal Mental Health, serves on the board of directors of Supporting Mamas and is a psychiatry consultant to Alpha Medical group. She has served on the California Perinatal Mortality Task Force, on the Board of directors of the International Marce Society and is a past fellow of the California Health Care Foundation. She did her medical training at GMC Amritsar India and her residency in adult Psychiatry at UCSD.



Her core belief is that maternal mental health is crucial to the well-being of the patient and their whole family. Her interests include assessment and treatment of psychotic disorders in pregnancy and postpartum and understanding perinatal suicide.



She enjoys swimming, biking, cooking and spending time with her three kids.
