Shamala Mohanasundaram, MD

Dr. Mohanasundaram, who goes by 'Dr. Shamala,' is a board-certified family medicine doctor who works with patients 10 years and older. She provides compassionate care aimed at supporting patients' physical and mental health.

She offers annual well-visits, management of chronic and urgent medical conditions, minor surgical procedures, vaccinations, physical exams for school sports and more. She also provides referrals to other specialist and helps to coordinate care.

Dr. Shamala finds that good listening and clear communication are the keys to building trust and delivering effective high-quality care. She explains, "In my over 13 years of practice, I've discovered that what I enjoy most is the camaraderie developed with my patients."

She works to understand each patient's unique circumstances and goals and partners with them to develop personalized care plans. She takes time to ensure that people understand their medical conditions and how they can best manage them.

Dr. Shamala was drawn to El Camino Health because of its dedication to the well-being of patients and staff.

In addition to English, Dr. Shamala is fluent in Tamil and Indonesian Malay.

Outside of work, Dr. Shamala loves gardening, dancing and having fun. She enjoys drawing and painting, especially watercolor.
