Treta Purohit, MD, is a gastroenterologist and hepatologist. She cares for patients with digestive and liver conditions.

Because many gastrointestinal conditions are complex, Dr. Purohit takes a whole-person approach to care. "Digestive issues can change how you eat, travel and feel day to day. My goal is to understand those broader impacts," she says. "I partner with patients to create care plans that are practical, sustainable and aligned with their lives."

The most meaningful part of Dr. Purohit's work is building relationships with patients. She helps them find answers, improve symptoms and regain their quality of life. Through careful listening and ongoing support, she empowers people to feel confident managing their health.

Dr. Purohit has contributed to research on digestive and liver diseases, including autoimmune liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and primary biliary cholangitis. She participates in clinical trials studying emerging therapies for metabolic liver disease and noninvasive approaches to cancer screening and early detection.

Dr. Purohit is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), where she serves on the Government Affairs Committee.

She is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.

Outside of work, Dr. Purohit enjoys spending time with her two children. She also enjoys exploring different cuisines, a passion that inspires her to help patients build a healthier relationship with food.
